Our Vision
Our vision is to see God’s Kingdom saturate every part of life in the community of Guadalupe.
Unpacking the Vision
Below, we take a closer look at each part of our vision and how it shapes the way we see Guadalupe, follow Jesus, and join God in what He is doing in our community.
Our Vision is to see
When we describe our vision, we are establishing a guiding “North Star”—a picture of what we long to see God bring about in the community of Guadalupe. While its fullness will not be realized until Jesus returns, it gives us clear direction for the present and reminds us what we are ultimately working toward.
Our vision also serves as a filter for our decisions and actions. In all that we do, we can ask, “Is this contributing to the vision we long to see?” When the answer is yes, we have the freedom to pursue it with abandon. When the answer is no, we can set it aside and invest our time, energy, and resources elsewhere. In this way, our vision gives us clarity about what to pursue and freedom to say no to what does not ultimately lead towards our primary purpose!
God’s kingdom saturate
The idea of God’s Kingdom is far too rich to fully explain here, but a helpful way to think of it is the King’s domain. When we talk about God’s Kingdom, we ask, “If Jesus were King over this area, relationship, or aspect of life, what would that look like?” God’s Kingdom is the extension of His rule and reign into the world. Jesus taught us to pray, “Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10). Our vision is rooted in this prayer: to see God’s rule and reign expressed throughout Guadalupe.
We intentionally use the word saturate to describe the extent of this reality. Collins Dictionary defines saturate as “filled to capacity; having absorbed all that can be taken up.” We envision Guadalupe filled to capacity with the reality of God’s Kingdom, where Jesus’ rule and reign are fully expressed and His love, justice, peace, goodness, and truth shape community life.
every part of life
We intentionally include “every part of life” to emphasize that we long to see the reality of God’s Kingdom reach into every corner of life in Guadalupe. Faith movements can sometimes create a divide between the “sacred” and the “secular,” treating some areas of life as belonging to God and others as separate. We don’t believe this reflects the nature of God’s Kingdom. Jesus is King over all of life, not just what we consider “religious.”
When we say “every part of life,” we mean families and neighborhoods, business and education, government and politics, arts and culture, recreation and relationships, and everything in between. We aren’t trying to build a religious organization within Guadalupe, but to see the whole community flourish under the good and loving rule of Jesus. Our vision reaches beyond churches and religious activities into the places where people live, work, learn, create, lead, and connect.
in the community of guadalupe
We end our vision by making clear that our focus is the community of Guadalupe. As people who love Jesus, we want to see His Kingdom throughout the world, but Love Guad has a specific place to love, serve, and invest in. Our focus gives us a clear community in which to build relationships, listen, serve, and join what God is doing.
At the same time, “the community of Guadalupe” extends beyond its physical borders. Guadalupanos and those who love this community live throughout the Valley and beyond, connected through families, friendships, and shared history. We believe what God does in Guadalupe will naturally overflow through these relationships, allowing the impact of His Kingdom to reach far beyond the town itself.
